Phony IRS E-mail Identity Theft Scam

Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan issued a warning to Missourians regarding unsolicited e-mails about tax refunds appearing to come from the Internal Revenue Service. The e-mail asks recipients for personal financial information such as ATM pin numbers and debit card information.

New Senate Bill Targets Identity Theft

A pair of U.S. senators yesterday introduced the Identity Theft Enforcement and Restitution Act of 2007, which proposes adding protections for consumers who fall victim to identity theft to the existing bill focused on data privacy and security that passed the Senate Judiciary Committee in May.
